Exercise 1 Storing a sample in inventory FIX HEADING
Exercise 1: Register a New Inventory Item FIX HEADING Objective: Add a new item to the inventory database. Steps:
- Open the Inventory module from the sidebar.
- Click 'Add' to start a new item entry.
- Enter the following fields: • - Item Name • - Item Type (e.g., Reagent, Standard) • - Quantity and Unit • - Expiry Date and Storage Location
- Save the record. Expected Result: A new inventory item should appear in the list with active status.
Exercise 2: Update Storage Location for a Sample
Objective: Assign a new storage position for an existing sample. Steps:
- Open the Samples module and find a registered sample.
- Go to the 'Storage' or 'Location' tab.
- Select or type a new location (e.g., Freezer 3 > Rack A1).
- Save changes. Expected Result: The sample now displays the new storage assignment.
Exercise 3: Filter Inventory Items by Status
Objective: Find items approaching expiry or with low quantity. Steps:
- Open the Inventory module.
- Use filters to show items with quantity < 10.
- Apply a second filter for expiry within the next 30 days. Expected Result: A filtered list of at-risk or soon-to-expire items.
Exercise 4: Export Inventory Data
Objective: Create a downloadable report of current inventory. Steps:
- Filter the inventory list as needed (e.g., by item type).
- Click 'Export to Excel'.
- Open the downloaded file and verify content. Expected Result: You receive an Excel sheet with the selected inventory data.
Exercise 5: Print a Label
Objective: Use the label printing feature for one item. Steps:
- Select an inventory item or sample.
- Click 'Print Label'.
- Choose printer and label format. Expected Result: A label prints with the correct information.
Self-Check
